Rebalance Your Body’s pH Level With Alkaline Minerals


Three main changes to ionized water:

1. pH
2. Oxidation/reduction potential (ORP)
3. Molecular Structure

When we talk about a pH balance, we are referring to the ‘potential of hydrogen’, this is a scientific measure which relates to the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+) and also a gauge of how acidic or alkaline a liquid is. Ranging from 0 on the acidic side, up to 14 on the alkaline side, a pH 7 measurement indicates a solution is neutral. As it functions logarithmically, a shift of just one pH unit on the scale signifies a tenfold movement in hydrogen ion concentrations. So, a pH of 5 indicates ten times the acidity of pH 6 and is 100 times more acidic than 7. Therefore, even a seemingly small increase or decrease in pH can be important.

In human biology, the right pH levels are crucial to our well-being, especially when it comes to blood. A healthy pH range for blood is considered to be somewhere between 7.30 and 7.45, this measurement directly indicates the amount of oxygen present and ready for use in your cells. When blood has a pH of 7.45 it holds 65% more extra oxygen than if it measured 7.34. Oxygen deficiency and the metabolic acidosis that accompanies it, play a part in almost every known disease.

Dr Otto Warburg And The Power Of Oxygen

During the 1930s and 40s, Dr Otto Warburg revealed in this Nobel Prize-winning research, that an oxygen-rich environment was toxic to cancer. He showed that cells which lack oxygen can look to a different method of producing energy, one that can cope in an acidic environment and can survive without oxygen. Since this time, many diseases have been linked to the problems of oxygen starvation and an accumulation of acidic waste products. Blood which reaches a pH level of 7.3 can also present as thicker than alkaline blood, this is why acid pH levels play a part in the blood clotting process. As blood with a lower pH is that much thicker, it is more of a challenge for our bodies to pump. We also know that a low pH in blood and dehydration can be linked to high blood pressure.

In the modern world, it’s a sad fact that the majority of people have a body and bloodstream which are more acidic than necessary. We can put this down to a number of factors including stress, environmental pollution and dehydration. A poor diet that is rich in refined carbohydrates, too much protein, excessive sugars and soft drinks, can also be a trigger. Every one of these elements contributes to acidosis, and consequently, to the problems of premature ageing and disease.

Alkalise Your Body And Banish Acidosis

Acidosis can stop the body from fully absorbing the kind of minerals and nutrients it needs. Furthermore, it is a condition which reduces the regeneration of cells and the production of energy within them. When a person is affected by acidosis, they may suffer from a hardening of the arteries, be more inclined to illness and feel fatigued. Inside a body that is too acidic, sustaining a blood supply with a normal pH can be a struggle. Occasionally, your system will be forced to extract the alkaline minerals it needs from organs or tissue where is it stored, this could include bones and teeth.

During the ionization process, minerals with a positive charge, those which are alkaline, are drawn to the negative charge from the hydroxyl ion (OH-). Within the ionization chamber, they begin to converge on one particular side, and as a result, the substance we refer to as alkaline aqua is created. This type of H2O has a pH measurement that is 10 to 1000 times as alkaline as when it started out. The exact number will depend on the pH setting chosen and the minerals which were present in the liquid before the process began. Drinking this more ionized version delivers a wealth of alkaline minerals to your system, primarily it counterbalances and neutralises any trace of acidic waste.

Another benefit of an alkaline infusion is that it contains higher levels of oxygen. When water has a pH reading of 7, it has an evenly balanced concentration of hydroxyl (OH-) ions and hydrogen ions (H+). This changes as the pH rises, bringing about a higher proportion of negative (OH-) ions. Therefore, by drinking the more alkaline version of H2O you are infusing your body with higher levels of oxygen. The only difference is that it does not come in the form of 02, but OH- instead, a version that is far more stabilised because of blending with the alkaline mineral. As they are consumed by your body, the two hydroxyl ions combine to produce a whole molecule (H2O) and send out an atom of oxygen. Consequently, the alkaline mineral can be put to work neutralising acids and each hydroxyl ion can go about delivering oxygen to your cellular structure.

People have lots of questions about drinking water that’s rich in alkaline. One of the most common relates to whether or not it can be used to fight acid in the stomach. The answer is simple; the cells that coat the walls of your stomach generate hydrochloric acid (HCl) as it is needed. By eating or drinking, you make the pH level inside your stomach far more alkaline.

This higher pH, coupled with your stomach becoming elongated to accommodate food, encourages the production of HCI. Your body reacts in this way because it is trying to bring down the pH in your stomach, so it is in an optimal state for digestion.

By drinking water that is rich in alkaline, further amounts of HCI are released in order to preserve this pH concentration. As a result, a remarkable by-product is created; bicarbonates. These are alkaline barriers that are needed to even out the pH level present in your blood. Salt, water and carbon dioxide are used to produce this reaction and two effects can be observed. First is HCI, which remains in your stomach, and the second is sodium bicarbonate, which passes into your bloodstream.

As part of the ageing process, we find ourselves with fewer bicarbonate cushions in our bloodstream – mainly due to acidity increases. It makes sense that by supporting your body in the neutralisation of acid, you are also taking steps to minimise the signs of ageing and slow down the signs of disease.


When you choose to drink alkaline water, there are many clear advantages:

1. It offers a generous amount of alkaline minerals and these are necessary to neutralise any acid waste that collects in the body. A healthy supply will ensure alkaline minerals are not harvested from your teeth, bones or organs.

2. It comes in the form of OH-, but alkaline water can carry increased amounts of oxygen.

3. By drinking aqua with a more alkaline pH twenty minutes before eating, you will encourage your stomach to excrete more HCI. This, in turn, supports the digestive process and the ingestion of nutrients. The majority of people over 40 in North America are not producing sufficient amounts of HCI, so their stomach is not in the best form to digest food.

4. When HCI is released, it creates bicarbonates that enter the bloodstream, these restore a balance to the blood’s pH and other fluids within the body.
